The topic for 2019 is: "How has the treatment of Vietnam Veterans affected my actions towards Veterans"
In accordance with the By-Laws, and to maintain our Veteran's Organization 501(c) (19) status, the Association offers two scholarships of $1500 each year. The scholarship program will be conducted as directed by the Executive Committee, subject to membership review at regular or special meetings.
Scholarships will be awarded to the winners of an essay contest on a topic approved by the Executive Committee.
Applicants competing in the essay contest must be direct descendants of Association regular or life members in good standing. (Direct descendents are son/daughter, step-son/step-daughter, grandson/grand-daughter, etc.) Direct descendants of Seawolves who gave their lives in the service of their country or Association members who have since passed away are also welcome to apply. Applicants are limited to undergraduates or students enrolled in "trade schools" approved by the EF coordinator.
Winner may not owe a refund on any grant or scholarship, previously awarded, or not currently in default on any loan nor have borrowed in excess of the loan limits, under the Title IV programs, at any institution.
Any monies received from the Association shall be used only for expenses directly related to schooling: tuition, fees, room, board, books.
Any unused funds from the Association shall be returned should the student's enrollment be terminated for any reason.
Essay should be no less than 1500 words and must be the applicant's original work, or properly cited. The essays will be graded on content, research and composition.

Essay may be submitted by regular mail, in which case shall be double-spaced, being careful that no essay page contains any name or distinguishing mark which may reveal the author to a judge.

The EF coordinator shall collect the essays and validate their timely submission, verify eligibility, sanitize any distinguishing markings which might reveal the author, distribute to the judges assigned by him. The EF coordinator shall determine an equitable ranking method, instruct the judges on the ranking method and shall determine the winners when the judges' rankings are returned. The Executive Committee may audit and correct EF coordinator procedures, and shall have final approval of the winners.

Deadline for submission shall be no later than 31 July, 2019.
